Networking is an essential part of any business setting, and having a business card to share is a key part of that process. Like me, you've probably attended a host of networking events. Perhaps you're just starting out and haven't yet gotten your business cards. Or maybe you do have them, but there's something about the design you dislike, making you feel less professional. Whatever the reason, there's no need to feel embarrassed about your card anymore.

We now have options! Deciding between physical business cards and digital networking tools like Linq, Dot, or an alternate depends on the context and your personal preference. But, allow me to elaborate about the benefits of digital business cards and why I chose Linq and how it’s helped me to leave an impression while networking.

Professionalism: Digital business cards convey that you are not only professional, but also tech-savvy and up-to-date with modern business trends. Using a digital card can signal that you are innovative and adapt quickly to new technologies, a valuable trait in today's rapidly changing business landscape.

Ease of Information Exchange: Digital business cards streamline the process of sharing contact information even further. Instead of handing over a physical card, you can send your digital card with just a few taps on your smartphone, even to someone who's not physically present. This ability to share contact details virtually is particularly beneficial in our increasingly digital and remote world.

Brand Representation: With digital cards, you have more room to express your brand identity. You can easily incorporate various digital elements like logos, color schemes, and even links to portfolios or social media accounts. Also, digital cards are always neat and unblemished, unlike physical cards which may get dirty or worn out.

Memorability: Digital business cards can include unique features like multimedia, interactive elements, and direct links to your work or social profiles. These features can make your card—and therefore you—more memorable to the people you network with.

Creates a Tangible Impression: While digital cards are not physical objects, they can create a strong impression in their own ways. For example, a well-designed digital card can display your professionalism and attention to detail. It's also harder to lose a digital card since it can be saved directly to a smartphone or computer.

Serves as a Marketing Tool: Digital business cards serve as marketing tools by providing direct links to your professional website, portfolio, or social media accounts. This means that potential clients or partners can get a better understanding of your work with just a click, making your card a powerful marketing asset.

Encourages Reciprocity: Sharing a digital card can prompt others to share their digital cards in return. Even if they don't have a digital card, they can easily share their email or other contact information, facilitating a two-way exchange of information.

Digital business cards have a lot of advantages. I also want to be clear on some of the drawbacks I have encountered.

This is based on tech, you'll find out quickly that there's a lot of people who aren't as tech savvy even though they operate the most expensive cameras, lightboards, or edit on the most amazing machines, etc.

Another thing I have noticed, while rare, is some people just are not familiar with digital business cards and may prefer a traditional card. I would avoid these people since usually they get frustrated over the littlest thing.

Last, since this is a new technology be prepared to help walk them through how to access your information. They may not have compatible phones. Or they haven’t turned on their NFC (Near field communication) on their phone. I have them tap my bracelet first since that is the easiest. But if that doesn’t work then we scan the code on the back of the bracelet or wherever it is on the Linq product. One of those two things will work and load the page. Once they are on the page, and get over the novelty of this, then they enter their information, and will have access to mine.

When I compared Linq vs all the other digital cards, I liked that Linq offered more options to personalize your business card on Linq’s website or use the solid color cards that you can get on Amazon. They have a bunch of different types of bracelets and stands that you can set up for your business needs. Check out the links at the bottom of this article.

They offer products that have both NFC and QR codes. Linq has the best social media integration compared to all the others and has the best CRM integration when you subscribe to Linq Pro which is cheaper than Dot.

While Dot is more widely known, Linq just offers more overall. I had to go with the better product and service.

I want to end this article not only with links to the different sites where you can find the best product for you, but by using a digital card you’re helping to save money on printing cards. You won’t be contributing to the statistic of the 88% of business cards getting thrown away within a week of meeting by traditional, physical business cards. Naturally, you’re also being green conscience in helping the environment while at the same time giving more information to impress the connection you are talking to. Happy networking!
